Armed Robbery in Winnetka!
Newsflash! We received a report at a little after 1:00 pm today that an armed robbery has taken place in Winnetka, Illinois at a gas station. The robbery suspect is still at large. Downtown Winnetka is apparently crawling with North Shore police. Please plan your afternoon accordingly.
Update: The gas station was the Amoco at the corner of Tower and Greenbay, and the attempt took place shortly after 11:00 am. Local schoolchildren were not allowed to leave their schools for lunch, and parents were alerted to pick up their children at the end of the day. No one has been apprehended, although dogs were used in a search for the culprit and local officers combed the area. The Pioneer Press has additional information about the attempted robbery.
