Happy Easter - He is Risen Indeed!

Hallelujah, he is risen!
He is risen indeed!

With this refrain, spoken by pastors and congregations worldwide this morning, Christians celebrate the glad resurrection of Christ. It is Easter, the most important day of the Christian year. Hymns of joy are heard in all of the churches. One of my favorites:

Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

The picture above of Jesus arising triumphantly from death is part of an altarpiece at St. Martin's Basilica in Bingen, Germany, which was built on an old pagan Roman place of worship. I took it on my summer vacation. I am not sure why Jesus is holding what appears to be a Swiss flag.
