Inauguration Luncheon: Luxury Food for Public Servants

Here is a picture of the centerpieces which will be featured at Barack Obama's Inauguration luncheon. I imagine they were designed two or three years ago when the economy was going gangbusters as they are beautiful and costly arrangements. Today only 8% of Americans rate the economy as good or excellent, but you would never guess that for the lunch being served on Inauguration Day. It will be paid for by the American people.

I suppose you all now know that at the lunch people will chow down on rare and costly food. There is a seafood "stew" that seems mostly like a chowder, featuring lobster, shrimp, scallops, and a bit of cod. The main course will be duck and pheasant breast. There will also be some vegetables and mashed sweet potates. If you want to duplicate the Inauguation luncheon, here are the recipes. They are not difficult to prepare so you could make them in your kitchen, but to do so will be very expensive.
