Political Candidates and Ambition

I ran across the following quote from over 300 years ago, and I thought it was great, especially in light of the vast sums of money being raised by US Presidential candidates.

"A slave has but one master; an ambitious man has as many masters as there are people who may be useful in bettering his position." -La Bruyere, "Of the Court," Characters, 1688

If you are referring to Obama, how very un-PC of you (not that I care).

The first person that comes to mind for me, is of course, our president.

It isn't so much the number of supporters, but rather the relative wealth of each, and the cumulative wealth of all.

Looking at it through this lens, GWB is the biggest slave there ever was.

They are all bad, every one. Obama is neither better nor worse than the rest. Some people think he is a poor man, but he had about a million dollars of income reported last year. Its pathetic to see wealthy people seeking a job by asking other people to give them money, most of whom have far less than they do.

Even though limits have been imposed, we are back to business as usual, with the bundlers the guys who will be owed the favors.
